Lando Norris, the McLaren Formula 1 driver, had a dramatic weekend at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix on April 20, 2025.

A Tough Start in Qualifying

The weekend didn’t begin well for Norris. During qualifying, he crashed his McLaren at Turn 8, damaging the car and ending his session early. This mistake left him starting the race from 10th place on the grid. Norris was hard on himself, calling himself a “f------ idiot” in a moment of frustration. The crash meant he had to fight from the back to score points, and it put extra pressure on him as his teammate, Oscar Piastri, qualified higher.

A Strong Recovery in the Race

Despite the setback, Norris showed why he’s one of F1’s brightest stars during the race. Starting from 10th, he carefully worked his way through the field, avoiding trouble and making smart overtakes.

By the end of the race, he crossed the finish line in fourth place—a great result considering where he started. His performance helped McLaren stay strong in the constructors’ championship and proved he could bounce back from a bad qualifying.

Meanwhile, his teammate Piastri won the race, taking the lead in the drivers’ championship. While this meant Norris lost his own championship lead, he was happy for the team’s success. McLaren’s cars were fast in Jeddah, and Norris’ fourth place added valuable points.

Norris’ Fiery Comments

After the race, Norris didn’t hold back when speaking to the media. He hit out at people he called “crap talkers,” likely responding to critics who questioned his recent performances or mistakes like the qualifying crash.
